Nickel & Nickel State Ranch Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

This Cabernet makes a powerful first impression, showcasing intense aromas of black currant, plum, and cedar. The palate opens with a rich, juicy entry, unfolding into layers of currant and black cherry, complemented by refined hints of clove. Firm, mouth-coating tannins provide structure, while subtle notes of wet slate add complexity to a deep, brooding finish.

The 2018 growing season began in late February and transitioned into a mild spring, allowing for extended flowering and even cluster development across the vineyard. Summer remained steady, with consistent temperatures that encouraged prolonged hang time and optimal ripening. Without extreme heat, we were able to harvest at a measured pace, ensuring each cluster reached ideal phenolic maturity. This patient approach resulted in fruit arriving at the winery with well-developed tannins, balanced acidity, and exceptional ripeness.
